We are currently seeking the following positions:
TEST ENGINEER
Westpak, Inc., an accredited third party independent testing laboratory in San Jose, CA, has an immediate opening for a test engineer, working primarily with photovoltaic and similar technologies. This is a full-time, entry-level to intermediate-level position with competitive salary and benefits
The position will involve:
• Performing electrical performance and safety tests on client samples per industry and custom test standards.
• Performing mechanical and environmental tests on test samples.
• Designing, building, evaluating, and improving test equipment and related systems.
• Analyzing, interpreting and communicating data and test results with customers.
• Authoring written test reports for conducted testing.
• Evaluating new and existing test equipment / processes for compliance to industry standards.
Must Haves:
• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology or similar.
• Solid demonstrated working knowledge of fundamental electronics.
• Must be hands-on and hardware-comfortable, with ability to work safely without close direction.
• High level of integrity and ability to perform work under nondisclosure agreements (NDA) on confidential client products.
• Ability to interface successfully with engineers, personnel of other disciplines, as well as clients.
• A self-starter with the ability to work effectively as a member of a small team of high-performance, technical professionals.
• Fluency in English and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift/push/squat up to 50 pounds.
• A valid US driver’s license and be legally allowed to work and reside in the U.S.
Should Haves:
• 0-5 years of work experience preferably in the test and measurement or photovoltaics field.
• Experience with typical database and equipment control programming languages.
• Experience working with related test equipment (environmental chambers, light sources, etc.)
Nice To Haves:
• Experience with photovoltaics, inverters, BOS components and/or mounting systems, etc.
• Experience in scripting for data analysis (Python / Perl / VBA / etc).
• Experience with industrial electrical and/or hydraulic power systems.

Test Engineer 1
Position Summary:
The purpose of this job is to provide customer package testing in a manner that insures the integrity of the test data and the satisfaction of the customer. Other responsibilities will include Lab maintenance/cleanup and preventative maintenance of equipment.
Functions and Responsibilities:
ROUTINE TESTING
- Perform scheduled testing duties and paperwork within the designated Westpak workday hours and practice safe laboratory methods on a daily basis
- Perform Beginning to Intermediate Level package and product testing procedures in compliance with industry standard test protocols
- Conduct package and product test procedures in accordance with client specifications
- Closely observe, document, and examine testing in order to better inform customers of the results, conclusions, and recommendations of the testing
- Record, collect, and organize all necessary documentation (equipment list, instrumentation, data) for each test conducted
- Continuously communicate with clients about test updates and questions they may have
- Continually assess laboratory conditions for safety and cleanliness
- To ensure the integrity of data, 99% of tests shall be conducted with measuring equipment that is maintained, and calibrated in accordance with WESTPAK “Process Control of Calibration Procedure”, P-CAL-96. Ref: F-QUA-287
- To ensure that prior to the date of testing or service there is agreement between WESTPAK, INC. and the customer regarding the test parameters, sequence or details of the service to be performed by WESTPAK, INC. and that there is evidence of contract verification in 95 % of jobs conducted. Ref: F-QUA-287
- To conduct at least 95 % of jobs without loss or damage to customer property (unrelated to testing). Ref: F-QUA-287
Prerequisites:
Education:
Preferably a B.S degree in Packaging Sciences or some related technology or engineering field and/or a certification or trade school equivalent
Experience:
0-2 year of experience (internships apply) in a packaging technology job
