Sustainability

Sustainable Packaging:

30% of all landfill (by weight and volume) is packaging.  Hard to believe?  Take the packaging challenge.

From the time you get out of bed in the morning to the time you break for lunch, count the number of packaged products your hands have touched.  Now multiply that figure by the number of people working at your company.  That’s a lot of waste generation just to get a bowl of cereal or a printer cartridge to your home or business.

It is not sustainable for the world to continue burying itself in waste.  The good news is that it doesn’t have to.

The correct packaging can reduce the environmental impact of your business AND cost less.

One of the most important functions of packaging is product protection.  You don’t want to under-protect your product.  You don’t want to over-protect it either.  Appropriate packaging can:

  • Reduce space requirements for transportation and storage
  • Reduce the amount of material required for packaging
  • Utilize more environmentally friendly packaging materials that are cleaner to produce and easier to recycle or dispose of.

What is good for the environment is also good for your business

Westpak has 25 years experience in packaging testing.
As part of its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable living, Westpak’s team of engineers offers its customers a comprehensive environmental packaging service that includes:

  • Testing your packaging for over or under protection using objective, validated test methods.
