Package Integrity Testing for Life Science

The protective package system for medical devices includes the primary packaging (in direct contact with the device to maintain sterility) and at least two additional layers of outer packaging. The required package validation tests consist of distribution, sterile barrier, seal strength, label, and others to be performed under the guidance of ISO 11607.

Stanford Study Reveals Germ Cloud Everywhere

A team of scientists developed techniques and collected nearly 900 days' worth of airborne biological and chemical exposure data as people moved through different geographical locations. "In just one week, the average person is exposed to about 800 different species of bacteria, viruses, chemicals, plant pollens, fungi, and tiny microscopic animals." Amazing!

Material Analysis: Cushion Curve

A dynamic cushioning test provides the characteristics of packaging materials such as polyurethane foam. The test machine allows a guided platen to fall onto a rigid surface with the cushion sample sandwiched in between. The resulting data points can be plotted to provide a useful tool for package designers.
