May 5th is most commonly known as Cinco de Mayo, but here at Westpak, five of our employees partnered with Feeding America San Diego to strikeout hunger! The event was hosted at Mira Mesa Lanes and was accompanied by delicious local cuisine from Frida’s Cocina. The event raised money to support San Diego’s local hunger-relief and nutrition program. With the donated funds, Feeding America is planning to provide 100,000 meals to San Diegans in need.
Feeding America San Diego was founded as a non-profit in 2007. They contribute food and relief efforts to San Diego and the surrounding communities, focusing not on providing only food, but nutritious and healthy food to community members. From its foundation FASD has grown and now has a 50,000-square foot building in Sorrento Valley. Their incredible distribution model changes every $1 donated into six meals. FASD has many opportunities to get involved, so whether it be monetary donations, food donations or time donations, there are plenty of options for giving back to the San Diego community. All kinds of projects are available for organizations, families, and kids! Check out their Get Involved page for more information.
Thanks to all our Westpak employees who participated and helped to strike out hunger!
